Each member of the class has now been signed up to a website called ‘tutpup’.

Here children can practice their times tables, mental maths and spellings whilst competing with individuals from across the globe in a secure environment.

The children’s identities are never ever divulged, nor do they ever communicate with anybody.

Each child can challenge themselves and go for the internal awards which will be shared with the class and here (with the world!!) on our blog. They can also be given specific tasks/targets which can then be monitored by myself and feedback, to enhance performance, given.

The whole class has been fully briefed on how to use the site and have also been given a secure login and password. Reminders can be found in the children’s Learning Journals and the first page of their homework books.

This has been a very busy week as our new Year 4 class have been familiarising themselves with new systems and a new teacher!

They have acquitted themselves superbly and have worked really hard. I was most impressed by their team working skills in PE.

The spellings for this half term (Autumn 1st) can now be found on the spelling tab above.

We have been looking at the climate in the tropical rainforests of the world. Working in groups, we have scripted and produced our own weather reports from around the world.

In literacy we have been reading and writing about stories and situations which raise issues and dilemmas for the characters involved.

On Monday we read about a man called ‘Old Dan’ who was not well liked by the people in his town. We recorded some of the things he may have heard as he went about his business.

Last Friday, 26th March, eight of our Year 4′s represented school at the Idsall Striking & Fielding Festival.
Despite low temperatures and an early deluge everyone had a good time. Thank you to all the parents who supported us with transport.
Special mention goes to Annabelle Farrington who also received a ‘Team Player’ in recognition of the sportsmanship she demonstrated during the event. well done Annabelle!!!

Mrs Main, who recently visited our partner school in Kenya, came into our class so that we could ask her about what the children and people in Kenya do to ensure a susutainable future. We asked lots of good questions and look forward to her visiting again next.

We have been looking at the importance of the Easter story to Christians in RE this half term.
After we had looked at Palm Sunday Florence and Isobel made this super diorama of Jesus entering Jerusalem.

I am sure you will agree what an excellent piece of work it is. Well done girls!
